Our Curriculum

Playful Learning. Faithful Foundations. Whole-Child Growth.

At The Midwest Playhouse, our curriculum is built on the belief that children thrive when they are loved, known, and free to explore the world through play, faith, and meaningful relationships. We offer a structured yet nurturing program where every moment—whether it's finger painting or praying before lunch—becomes an opportunity for growth.

We blend Christian values with developmentally appropriate practice and align all instruction with the Missouri Early Learning Standards (MELS) to ensure high-quality, intentional care at every stage.

Our Approach: Faith-Based Play

Our classrooms are home-based, but our standards are professional. We implement a faith-based, play-centered curriculum that is rich in discovery, movement, language, and love. Children are encouraged to wonder, create, and grow in environments designed just for them.

  • Bible-based themes and memory verses

  • Hands-on learning in thoughtfully designed learning centers

  • Teacher-facilitated play and group exploration

  • Outdoor time and sensory-rich activities

  • Character-building moments rooted in scripture and modeled by staff

Every activity is intentionally aligned with MELS across developmental domains, preparing children academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

Preschool (2 years-5 years)

Starting at age 2, we begin focused instruction across seven core developmental areas, all delivered through play and aligned with both faith formation and MELS benchmarks.

  • Fine Motor: Cutting, tracing, lacing, manipulating small tools

  • Gross Motor: Jumping, dancing, balancing, outdoor exploration

  • Science: Nature walks, sensory experiments, seasonal changes

  • Art: Drawing, painting, craft creation tied to Bible stories or themes

  • Literacy: Letter recognition, story retelling, vocabulary, rhyming

  • Cognitive Skills: Puzzles, sorting, memory games, cause and effect

  • Math Concepts: Counting, patterns, shape recognition, measuring

These domains are not isolated—they’re integrated into a rhythm of play, prayer, and purposeful activity that prepares children for Kindergarten and life.

Our Faith Foundation

We don’t just teach about God—we model His love daily. Whether it’s in how we greet a child, resolve conflict, or celebrate growth, we show children they are deeply loved, uniquely made, and part of God’s story.

  • Daily prayer, worship, and gratitude practices

  • Weekly Bible stories and memory verses

  • Modeling Christ-like values: kindness, patience, joy, and compassion
